Alice in Wonderland

 Isn't she gorgeous!
Yesterday we finally had the much anticipated Alice in Wonderland party for Holly's 5th birthday.  I say much anticipated as it has been in the making for quite some time!  About 8 months ago we were reading Alice in Wonderland and I mentioned to Holly that it would be a great theme for a party. She agreed. Not long after I was bailed up in bed with pregnancy woes.  For the next 6 month, from the comfort of my bed, I did a lot of googling and planned this party.  I swear it was the one thing that kept me occupied and got me through half the pregnancy!  Any way, the day finally came, and it really was a great party.  We ended up hiring "Alice" to come and entertain the kids, this was not party of the original plan, but with my back, it made sense to off load the entertainment! Man was she a hit! The kids loved her and she had them eating out of the palm of her hand, 31 little people, that obeyed with enthusiasm, her every word!  They played pass the parcel, wonderland limbo, had their faces pained and lots more.  They finished off with a morning tea of coloured sandwiches and tea (juice from tea pots!).  The party was a huge success and more importantly Holly had a ball!  The pictures below speak for themselves xx

Happy 5th Birthday Holly!

Happy Birthday Princess!
We wish you all the very best things in life -
We love you to the moon and back
xx

Today Holly Turned 5.  I swear that she woke up and decided she was going to act 10 years older!  We all had pancakes for breakfast together (Bill Grangers ricotta pancakes recipe - delish!),   Holly was so sweet opening her presents, we gave her a watch which she had been hinting at, and Harry gave her a pair of shoes, and Lucy a book.   Then Holly, Harry, Lucy and I met Grandma at the hospital where I had my 4 week check up (all positive), We then met Mia, Indie and  Piper at the Tivoli Theatre for this seasons pantomime - There was an old woman who lived in a shoe!  It was very funny and we laughed and sang and ate fairy bread for just over an hour.
Grandma and Pa came for dinner.  I asked Holly what she would like for dinner - completely her choice, and she chose chicken drumsticks, salad and chips, and cupcakes for desert!  She then spend the rest of the evening entertaining us with tap dancing, river dancing and singing! All in all a "great birthday" in her words.

Holly has been coming out with some cracking comments lately.

Today her word of the day was Frustrated.  She must have used it, in context, at least 8 time, just on the way home from the theatre!

The other day very innocently, after being at the pool with Grandma, she said, "Did you know Grandmas boobs point down .... but yours point up? " - luckily Grandma has a thick skin and hopefully won't mind me repeating that one!

On Monday when our gorgeous cleaner Anna was here she headed out the front for a cigarette (Anna not Holly!)  Holly quizzed her on where she was going, Anna reluctantly said she was going to smoke, Holly shocked but not missing a beat said " they are really bad for you"
Anna - replied with a spiel along the lines of, never smoke, they are addictive, don't ever touch them,
Holly     -  after thinking about that then said "So why do they sell them?"
Anna     -Money, the government makes lots of money from them
ME         - Holly you should write to the Prime Minister and tell her to stop selling them!
Holly     - Ok Mummy, I will send Julia Gillard a letter and Tell her ..... she then stopped to    think for a minute and said ... "Mummy and Daddy like Tony Abbot (not quite true!), but I really like Julia Gillard, so I think I will send her a letter!

Im still not sure how she became a Labour voter???

9 weeks old ...

I am a little early. Tomorrow Lucy is 9 weeks old. Today was my first day at home with the 3 kids alone **AGHHH***
No it really wasn't that bad, I did have help, just not Andrew. He went back to work today after 4 weeks off.  All I remember this morning was a dust cloud as he sped off to work in record speeds... he was REALLY glad to be going back!  I think he would agree that a House-Husband is a pretty tough gig!  He did a stella job and I was sure the kids were going to whine all day asking where he was, but I think everyone was glad to be back in routine.  Miss Lulu is getting very strong and looks like a little turtle when she lifts her head, she loves having a bath and LOVES her rocking chair. She is still feeding 4 hourly day and night, but doesn't cry much and is most happy when being held. Fingers crossed the night sleeps start getting a little longer!
