2 weeks ago I had a virus, I called it “not COVID”, it was all the same symptoms but it wasn’t COVID! With the virus I had a sore chest. It kind of lingered and didn’t go away, some days it was worse, stabbing pains etc. on Friday I really wasn’t feeling great, I had chest pains and arm pain and was starting to get a bit scared. So after work (sports carnival) I drove myself to emergency to get everything completed checked. I had Ella’s wedding in the country on Saturday so I wanted to make sure everything was ok first. I honestly expected everything to be ok just something mild. After 4 hours in emergency, having had blood taken an X-ray, I was given a room and saw a doctor. The doctor told me my blood tests were not normal. I had mildly elevated levels of Troponin. I was admitted to the coronary care unit overnight then transferred to the cardiac ward on Saturday. My second blood test late Friday night showed my troponin levels had slightly dropped which was good news meaning they had peaked.
Saturday I had an angiogram which was all clear thank god and a CT scan, all clear. I’m just waiting on a echo cardio (heart ultrasound) today and I should be clear to go home. The doctor (Chris Goods) so far thinks it may be pericarditis- inflammation of the lining of the heart, apparently this is not dangerous and will go away with time. It was most likely caused from the virus I have just had. No one thinks it is COVID or vaccine related.
Anyway, fingers crossed I can go home today, I miss the kids, they haven’t been allowed to visit due to COVID restrictions 😞
** update - All clear, complete bill of heart and lung health.
