Best date day!

After a bit of a hiatus from Date nights, Andrew organized the best day!
Lazy start, followed by visiting the Ngv Picasso exhibition, mirror house and lobster roll lunch. Then home and back out to dinner at Lee Ho Fuk - possibly the best Asian food I’ve eaten! Best day in a long time!

We have a 13 year old!!

To the most beautiful boy I have ever met:
Happy Birthday Harry, you are now officially a teenager! I am not even sure when this happened but over the last 3 or so months, you have definitely transitioned into the next phase of your life. You have matured so much recently. You are still the softest, kindest most thoughtful boy I have ever come across. You have a natural tendency to do the right thing by people, it come innately to you, just like your dad. When you are interested in something you will give it your all, but otherwise not much phases you. The last 6 months have been tough starting high school, it was defiantly a shock to the system, but you seem to be getting a hold on it, and even though you will probably never love school, you seem to be adapting.  You have loads of friends, but you really know how to pick the good kids. You seem to get along with everyone, but your good mates seem to be good people. You are liking basketball and have just dropped soccer (unfortunately because we couldn't get a team together. You still love building things, you built a table last week! You love bike riding and were very surprised to get a new bike for your birthday!
We all just think you are awesome! You and Holly have a lovely bond and spend a lot of time together. You and Lucy still have a good time "playing" together and hopefully there is a bit more of that to come. You and Marley love to play playstation together at least 3-4 times a week, which is so cool that you have found a way to connect being so far apart!
We love you so much beautiful boy, we love hanging out with you, listening to you, even your bad "Dad jokes"!! Please don't ever change who you are because you are wonderful!
love you forever baby xx

Toot sweets - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Lucy asked me also to write down the words to Toot Sweet, A song I have sung to the kids since they were small. When she was sick with the flu last week, I was singing it to her to help her drift off to sleep. here is goes ...

Toot sweets sound like what they are, so do lollies in a lolly pop jar,

ginger bread men have a a ginger bread sound, we've found.

Sugar plum cinnamon and lemon tart, tell you what they are right from the start,

But your name, does the same for you,

By coincidence, Lucy Freeman, you're truly truly scrumptious,

Scrumptious as a cherry peach parfait

When you're near us, you're so delicious,

Honest Lucy, you're the answer to my wishes,

Lucy Freeman, though we may seem presumptuous, never ever ever go away,

My heart beats so unruly, because I love you Lucy,

Honest Lucy, I do!

Proposal

Lucy  asked me yesterday "How did Dad ask you to marry him? It's funny because I'm sure I have told this story many times, but in saying that I can't remember how Dad proposed to Mum. I thought I would write it down, so the kids always have it in writing.

It was 2005, we were holidaying on the Gold Coast and staying at Mum and Dads house at 40 Evergreen Drive Elanora. I wrote the address because thats where we grew up and at that visit would be out last visit as they were just about to put the house on the market and move to Kirra.

Andrew had planned to propose on this holiday, at the house, so (as he said) it would be my last memory of my family home!

So the day before, Andrew went outside to find Dad, he was always outside, building something, landscaping, gardening, tinkering or fixing something. He found him at the top carpark. Andrew says he was a little nervous but ok, he worked up the courage and said to Dad "So Fenton, what did you say to Jack when you asked for permission to marry Jenny?" Dad said "Pretty much that mate! Congratulations!" and that was it, the wheels were in motion.

The next day, a typical hot humid QLD day, everyone was out and Andrew and I were in the pool. We were lounging, relaxing floating around the pool, I had my legs wrapped abound Andrews waist when he started talking. He was telling me how much he loved me and how he knew this is what he wanted for the rest of his life (I didn't catch on straight away!) then he said the magic words "Will you marry me?" Obviously it was a big fat YES! I remember being so bloody happy and life just made sense. I remember being high on life for days afterwards, and the excitement of calling each new family and friend to tell.

That night we drove to Brisbane and had a celebratory dinner with Adam and Renee. We stayed at the Hilton for the night. I am thankful everyday that we were lucky enough to find each other.
